First Visit

Your Child’s First Dental Appointment

We understand that children may feel apprehensive about their first visit to the dentist. Thats why we encourage our patients to come in for a complimentary New Patient Orientation during which parents and children get to meet our dental team and become more familiar with the sights, sounds and feel of our dental office. These visits help us establish a bond and rapport with your child and so that they will feel more at ease. We also encourage you to prepare your child at home for the visit by reading our custom made first dental visit book, which you will receive in the new patient packet that is mailed when the appointment is made.

24 months and under

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry along with the American Dental Association recommends that children have their first dental visit by age one. Think of this as a well baby visit with an emphasis on healthy teeth and mouth. This will be an educational visit for our new parents. At this visit we review brushing, flossing, correct use of toothpaste, as well as habits, nutrition, breast feeding, bottle, sippy cup use etc. We also discuss what to anticipate in terms of future growth and tooth development. This visit is also a great opportunity for the family to have questions about their childs dental health reviewed and answered.
